Lebanon, or in the extended form Lebanese Republic is a state of the Near East which overlooks the eastern sector of the Mediterranean Sea. Lebanon borders Syria to the north and east and Israel to the south. To the west it overlooks the Mediterranean sea. Lebanon’s surface is 10,452 km². The capital is Beirut.
