The Netherlands, located in the north-west of Europe, are best known for their flat landscape full of canals, tulip fields, windmills and cycle paths. In Amsterdam, the capital, there are the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the house where Anne Frank wrote her diary during the Second World War. The typical houses overlooking the canal and the collection of works by artists such as Rembrandt and Vermeer have remained to testify to the so-called “Golden Age” which affected the city in the 17th century.
